Sometimes smallest things bring the greatest joy. I was happy for grabbing a window seat,in a horribly crowded train and that too after a festive season. My compartment was not much overloaded but still I could see few people standing. They were curious to know where the sitting passengers would get down. So that they gain some energy to stand and could wait for a seat if possible. As many as the passengers are and so are their huge luggages, closely packed with festival memories and delicious food.
I was happy with my window and I could feel the speed of the train. I could see my town going back. I was surprised to see a girl sitting in front of me. I should say she is cute rather than to say she is beautiful. Her chubby cheeks and her spectacles make her look more pretty. Her dress was aptly suited for her. I was lost in thoughts, for a short while. I was disturbed by a stout man,who asked me for the newspaper I hold. I gave him. He jumped into the sport columns of the newspaper. Beside him, a fat woman, was busy in comforting her jewellery.I concluded myself that, this three people together are a family and this girl was their daughter.
After a short while , I made eye contact with her. But she ignored. I too ignored her and kept my eyes on local news. Crime news grab our most attention and I was so busy reading few stories for the next half an hour. Then after that her father and I exchanged the newspapers. Again, I concentrated, keeping my head into editorial columns. I'm a voracious reader unless they're my subjects. I feel subjects give birth to boredom.
After chewing every news story,I felt that my compartment was crowded more. I looked at her and she was eating peanuts throwing her eyes out of the window. Somehow she was uncomfortable with her seat as someone sat beside her mother. I jus moved and offered her my window seat. She accepted and said thanks for the seat.
The wind spoiled her hair and she could neatly set all her hair back behind her ears. I asked her where she was from? She said she was at her grand mother's home for the holidays. She asked me for the newspaper and looked at the movie advertisement and said that they watched that movie and it was awesome. I felt I was on the right track of the conversation and asked for the story of that movie. She said me the plot of the story and our conversation was very strong. Her parents were busy discussing something. We were so busy chit Chatting. She talked very nicely. Our conversation was from her favourite hero to her future ambition. I felt She was clear minded. She was talkative, I felt Sometimes but she didn't spoke any unnecessary things at all. She was only the center of our conversations. She didn't even ask about Me. I was jealous for lacking my identity.
Train was halted at a junction for ten minutes. Her mother shouted at her to stop talking and sleep. Her mother's face is a serious face. Maybe she got her looks from her father. She leaned her head to the window and closed her eyes, trying to sleep. I hated her mother. I gave a serious look at her. She ignored.
I too slept for an hour. As I got up,I was shocked to see this stout man beside me. My eyes searched for the girl. And she was sleeping on her mother's lap. Her mother is also having a nap.
Everbody, in the compartment are getting ready to get down. we gonna disperse in an half an hour. It was hard. I helped his father in arranging all his luggage at one place. He said thanks. I smiled. She got up and was so hurry to get down. She didn't even look at me. I wondered whether she forget everything after a sleep. "That might be impossible",I laughed saying to myself. She looked at my laugh and smiled . I waved silently. She said,"bye". I don't wanna get down. It was a nice journey talking to her. I wished we could sit for some more time.
The train was on the platform. There was huge queue of passengers getting down. Her father took the luggage and walked and her mother follewed. All the faces were tired enough. But I could see no tiresomeness in her. She was so happy and pretty. I didn't ask her name even after great conversation. She was behind her parent's in the queue. I pushed the other passengers and rushed to her. I thought that At least, all I can know is her name. I donno how to call her. I jus took her hand, and she turned back. I asked," what is your name?,what you're studying?"
She gave me the most precious smile, and said," I'm Adithi,2nd standard, St.Joseph convent school". I whispered myself,"Adithi".
Her parents saw me waving at her and asked her to wave back.
I walked towards the exit of the station with her smile on my face.
